Vertical Design Studio in Architectural Education: A Summer Practice on Corner Parcel

This study discusses the experience of a vertical studio implemented at SCU Department Architecture. The goal such an experiment is to open channels interaction in and activate peer learning. studio, which was carried out within scope 2021-2022 academic year summer school, includes three different project groups from second, third fourth grades. Studio participants with individual experiences were presented main theme focusing on ‘corner’ concept. To diversify contextual openings, four definitions ‘corners’ urban space developed, students free terms selection, architectural program other design dynamics. While producing projects around comprehension, process observed activities as interaction, dialog, collaboration As result, it determined that understanding dialog collaborative work for discussing and/or decisions has not yet been established, while same time understood practice eliminates class-level boundaries makes accessible.
